The Consecration of Saint Sophia Cathedral May 9 and 10, 2015
The Clergy, Parish Council and entire Congregation of Saint Sophia Cathedral welcome you, with open arms and hearts, to join us in worship and celebration during our Consecration Weekend of May 9 & 10, 2015.
The procession of the Holy Relics of Saints Panteleimon, Barbara and Kyrikos and the Vespers of Consecration will be celebrated at 4:00 PM on Saturday, May 9. The Orthros and Divine Liturgy of Consecration will begin at 7:45 AM on Sunday, May 10.
We also invite you to attend our Consecration Grand Banquet, an evening celebrating the much anticipated Consecration of our beloved Saint Sophia Cathedral, to be held at the Ritz Carlton, 1150 22nd Street, NW, Washington, DC, 20037. Cocktail hour begins at 6:30 PM.
From its humble beginnings in 1904 to the glorious Byzantine cathedral that now graces Massachusetts Avenue, NW, DC, the community of Saint Sophia Cathedral continues, as it has for over one hundred eleven years, its tradition of devoted service to the Greek Orthodox faithful of the greater Washington, DC, area. We are your Orthodox Cathedral in the nation’s capital.

Our Priests, Parish Council, and entire team of volunteers are organizing all aspects of the most spiritually profound weekend in the life of our community.
