If It Makes You Happy

I left a large parish with a wonderful staff and tremendous programs. I took up the work of starting an Orthodox mission. The Violent Announcement

The Violent Announcement Infinite Love storms the very gates of our life.  It could be that I’ve already achieved a kind of peaceful co-existence with God.  Perhaps I’ve been able to convince myself that I am more or less “in order” with my soul and therefore more or less at ease with myself. Maybe I’ve even foreseen a happy and peaceful ending to my earthly life. Then suddenly all these assurances are turned upside down

Do you think I am going to help anybody? No! Oh, no, no, no, no, no! Don’t expect me to be of help to anyone. Nor do I expect to damage anyone. If you are damaged, you did it; and if you are helped, you did it. You really did! You think people help you? They don’t. You think people support you? They don’t.
